When is the best time to visit Sri Lanka?

Sri Lanka is known to be a year-round holiday destination. However, due to two active monsoon systems, heavy rain and strong winds can be predicted at certain months of the year. When planning your Sri Lankan holiday, it is best to avoid the monsoons months (May - September and December to February).

What is the average temperature in Sri Lanka?

The average temperature for the country as a whole is between 28 to 30 °C (82.4 to 86.0 °F). However, the average temperature ranges from a low of 9.4 °C (60.8 °F) in the Central Highlands to a high of 32 °C (89.6 °F) on the northeast coast.

The lowest temperature ever recorded in the country was -1.1°C (30 °F) in the city of Nuwara Eliya and the highest temperature ever recorded was 39.8 °C (103.6 °F) in the coastal city of Trincomalee. But the distance between these two cities is just 158 miles.

Which airlines fly direct from the UK to Sri Lanka?

SriLankan Airlines is the only airline that flies direct from London Heathrow airport to Colombo Bandaranayake international airport. However, there are other airlines such as Emirates, Qatar Airways and Kuwait Airways flying from both London Heathrow and Gatwick airports to Colombo Bandaranayake international airport with at least one stopover. Emirates flies from Newcastle and Manchester via Dubai.

With effect from 1st April 2019, the citizens of the following countries will not need a visa to visit Sri Lanka.
